Lip Lift
What is a Lip Lift?
As we age, the upper lip will elongate in all of us. This can be more pronounced in some individuals than others. People may notice that as they smile they see less of their upper teath and more of their lower teeth. This gives an individual an older appearance. A lip lift is a surgical procedure in which skin at the very top of the lip below the nostrils is removed. This elevates the central third of the upper lip. In the process the upper lip is also tilted upward and outward to a minor degree. Some also see more pink upper lip. The procedure itself is fairly quick and is associated with little pain. The lasting consequence is a fine scar at the top of the lip below the base of the nose.
Who is a good candidate?
You may be a suitable candidate for a lip lift if you:

-
Want to reduce the space between your nose and upper lip.
-
Have thin or flat upper lips due to genetics or age and desire more definition or dental show while smiling.
-
Prefer a permanent solution over temporary fillers or are dissatisfied with previous injectable results.
-
Are in overall good health, do not smoke (or are willing to stop before and after surgery), and have realistic expectations about outcomes.
-
Seek facial harmony and subtle enhancement—not drastic alteration
What does recovery look like?
-
Days 1–7: Swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort are common, peaking within the first few days. Most patients return to daily activities within a week.
-
Stitch removal: Sutures are removed or dissolve in about 5–7 days.
-
1–2 weeks: Major visible swelling subsides, and patients can use concealer to cover the incision once it is closed.
-
6–8 weeks: The incision site continues to heal and fade. Most residual swelling and tightness resolve within this period, but optimal results can continue to refine over several additional months
